The Personal Blog of Erin Elisse

The Sprouting Mind originated in January 2010 as a vegan blog, where I reviewed books like Omnivore’s Dilemma and The China Study, created playlists, posted personal recipes and wrote about what it was like to be vegan. The blog started off as a New Year’s Resolution (write everyday), and lasted about 6 months.

As I wrote more and more about the vegan lifestyle, it became evident to me that what I wanted to write about was not really veganism, but rather what it means to put thought into life. Choosing habits, creating who you want to be and having a well-formed opinion.

The Purpose of Sprouting Mind

To me, today’s biggest struggle is apathy. It touches actions, minds and thought processes. Sprouting Mind works to emphasize my deliberate living philosophy, or my fight against resigned living.

My counter-cultural leanings can hopefully contribute toward this blog being a fun and intriguing place for you to regularly hover. Through purposeful posts on all topics from music to recipes to reviews to design to philosophical musings, I also hope to convey an overall emphasis on foundational understanding.

To me, foundational understanding of a thing or concept helps a person (like me and you) find deeper meaning in life. But, that’s big picture…

I hope you enjoy this blog. Please do not be a stranger, and feel more than welcome to leave a comment or send over an email. I would love to hear from you.

Oh, and for the record, I am no longer vegan.
